This American Life filmed one of their stories at a state of the art pig farm. There is science and genetics involved in creating a leaner pig, who knew? Progress however, creates a ripple effect; a leaner pig can't live outdoors, a mass of pigs living in a barn generates noxious waste requiring a customized sanitation system and so on.
When I pass a stroller these days, it's fairly common to see a dog instead of a small child. A stroller is helpful for a child that may tire easily or may not be walking just yet. The dogs I've seen in strollers
can walk, they just don't. Is this progress?

I am a dog owner who cannot fathom why anyone would own a dog. It's not as much of a contradiction as you'd think.
