Down time

Stefan Sagmeister (born 1962 in Bregenz, Austria) is a New York-based graphic designer and typographer who heads his own design firm, Sagmeister Inc. and also teaches in the graduate department of the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Every seven years, Sagmeister goes on a year-long sabbatical, where he does not take work from clients. In this short video, he explains that time away from work pays for itself through restored creativity and innovation. Sagmeister has spent 2009 in Asia.

I took a year long sabbatical myself. Wish I had thought of it this way from the start. Rather than as something wrong.
