Epoch

Artists influence one another. I've been looking at the work of artist couples; their visual conversation. Soft sometimes, like an echo, even when working in different media.

Dorthea Lange

Maynard Dixon

Lange and Dixon were married during the Great Depression;
both artists shared a deep concern for social crises.

Alfred Stieglitz

Georgia O'Keefe

Stieglitz met O'Keefe at his New York gallery.
During their marriage, they often spent time apart, sometimes in separate states.

Frida Kahlo

Diego Rivera

Kahlo and Rivera had a tempestuous relationship,
but as artists their mutual respect never wavered.
