Gap has launched a new logo.
Does Helvetica better communicate their product and design?

I follow several designers on Twitter. The whole design world is up in a roar about the new gap logo. Here's one designer's redo of the logo --- http://imjustcreative.com/my-interpretation-of-the-helvetica-gap-logo-design/2010/10/10/

I think the new logo loses the nostalgia of the brand and the blue box in the upper right corner seems misplaced, rendering the logo a bit illegible. Helvetica is such an odd choice, especially putting just the G in caps.

At any rate, it's been great PR for Gap as they're getting a ton of free design advice and redos of their logo from around the design world. ... Who knew people were so attached to a brand? Perhaps Gap did this on purpose. Could they be that prescient?
