Photographs taken

In the late 1800's, New York photographer Charles Eisenmann created portraits of people from circuses, living museums and sideshows. His photographs depict a wide spectrum of physical abnormalities, but are straightforward without derision.  The collection of his images, Monsters of the Gilded Age was first published in 1979. It doesn't seem a title created by Eisenmann, whose subjects are dressed in their Sunday best with expressions of grace and dignity.
