Georgia O'Keeffe often painted rocks and shells and bones, so it's not surprising a large collection of these can be found in the home where she spent many years of her life.
She could have lived anywhere, could have surrounded herself with the art and photographs of the masters she knew personally. I'm fascinated that she instead chose to live so simply, and seemed drawn to the natural objects found in the acreage surrounding her adobe home. One look at her table covered in stones or her shelf full of bones, their particular arrangement, you can see the Divine in the ordinary.
